Main Ingredients
1
medium
ripe avocado, pitted and scooped out
Choose an avocado that yields gently when pressed near the stem end.
1
medium
banana, peeled and frozen
A very ripe banana provides more sweetness.
1
cup
unsweetened almond milk
Can be replaced with dairy milk, oat milk, soy milk, or another alternative.
1/2
cup
fresh spinach, lightly packed
Spinach can be omitted or replaced with kale.
1 to 2
tablespoons
honey or maple syrup, to taste
Adjust based on the ripeness of banana.
1/2
teaspoon
pure vanilla extract
Adds flavor to the smoothie.
4 to 5
pieces
ice cubes
Only if the banana is not frozen or for extra chill.
Instructions
Preparation
Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a blender.
Peel the banana and break it into chunks.
Blending
Pour in the almond milk first, then add the avocado, banana, spinach, vanilla, and honey or maple syrup.
Add ice if desired.
Blend on high until the mixture is thick, creamy, and evenly green.
Pause to scrape down the sides if necessary.
Taste and Serve
Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more sweetener or a small splash of milk if too thick.
Pour into a chilled glass and enjoy while the smoothie is cold and fresh.
Notes
This smoothie is best enjoyed immediately. If storing leftovers, use an airtight jar and drink within 24 hours.
