  • 4 large large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat and sauté the onions until translucent.
  • Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, and cook until browned.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.

Layering

  • Layer half of the potato slices in a greased baking dish.
  • Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes.
  • Drizzle half of the soup mixture over the beef, and sprinkle half of the cheese on top.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, soup mixture, and top with the remaining cheese.

Baking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with a simple salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal. A dollop of sour cream or fresh herbs can elevate the flavors. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
